Abu Dhabi state refiner Takreer expects commercial operations at its 417,000 b/d Ruwais Expansion refinery project to begin in March. The company is currently commissioning the complex and aims to load its first cargoes of low sulfur diesel and naphtha before the end of March.
Takreer’s refineries currently have combined liquids processing capacity of 485,000 b/d: The Abu Dhabi refinery has crude distillation capacity of 85,000 b/d. The existing Ruwais refinery has a 120,000 b/d crude distillation unit and two 140,000 b/d condensate splitters.
The Ruwais Expansion refinery will process ADNOC’s Murban crude oil, covering rising demand for clean gasoline and distillates, while enabling products exports to Asia. The project’s 21 process units include one of the world’s largest residue fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) units, with capacity of 127,000 b/d.
