Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has signed an agreement with a consortium of Spain’s OHL Industrial and local firm MID Contracting to build a strategic oil products terminal near ‘Amman at an expected cost of $174mn. Completion is expected in 2016, under an engineering, procurement, commissioning and construction contract.

Energy Minister Muhammad Hamid says the project is part of government plans to achieve energy security through all means, including building strategic storage for oil products. He says the terminal will have capacity to store 340,000 tons of diesel, gasoline and jet fuel as well as 10,000 tons of LPG. Mr Hamid added that the project will be financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. (CONTINUED - 270 WORDS)
