Iraq’s newly appointed Prime Minister Haidar al-‘Abadi has named ‘Adil ‘Abd al-Mahdi as his new Oil Minister. Among his most pressing tasks will be to pacify the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), which has given the fledgling new government three months to agree to a set of demands as a condition for the continued participation of the Kurdish Alliance in the federal government.
