Partners in the Royee license offshore Israel, which neighbors the Egyptian maritime border, announced this week that seismic survey data indicated the Royee field contains an estimated 3.2 tcf of natural gas. This would make it Israel’s third largest gas find after the 10 tcf Tamar field which was discovered in 2010 and the 22 tcf Leviathan which was discovered a year later.
Drilling has been pencilled in for the end of next year and will most likely coincide with any drilling in the Egyptian blocks, as Italian utility Edison operates Royee as well as Egypt’s bordering North Thekah and North Port Fuad blocks.
