In its latest twice-yearly Global Economic Prospects, released this week, the Bank says the global economy will grow by 3.2% this year, up from 2.4% for 2013 (see table). Both of these figures are up by 0.2 percentage points from the forecasts the Bank made six months ago, indicating its increased confidence in global economic prospects. “High income economies appear to be finally turning the corner five years after the global financial crisis,” the Bank says.
