Surging US oil production has been grim news for sellers of Atlantic Basin light sweet crudes. Both OPEC members, Algeria and Nigeria have seen their exports to the US halve from 2010. Last year the US imported 419,000 b/d of Nigerian crude and 241,000 b/d of Algerian crude. This compares to 803,000 b/d and 342,000 b/d in 2011 respectively. While in 2010, Nigeria sold over 1mn b/d to the US and Algeria some 509,000 b/d (see graph). (CONTINUED - 187 WORDS)
