The Syrian economy has suffered an estimated S£218bn ($2.2bn) loss from power outages caused by sabotage in the past two years, the Minister of Electricity, ‘Imad Khamis, revealed.

He said that 30 to 40 power stations in the electricity grid were currently out of use and that 40% of the high voltage cable network was damaged.
