Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has invited companies to submit expressions of interest for the construction of solar and wind energy projects in northern and eastern Jordan. The projects will cover local supply of electricity only, not exports, with project size limited to 50MW for solar photovoltaic (PV) plants and 50-100MW for wind farms.

The ministry says that applicants can be local or international entities, and must have experience in developing build-own-operate (BOO) projects. The deadline for submissions is 31 October. Jordan plans to raise renewables generation capacity to 1.8GW by 2020, of which 1.2GW will be wind and 600MW solar. (CONTINUED - 263 WORDS)
