MEES Agenda: MENA Defense Spending As Percentage Of GDP Sees First Upturn In Six Years
After falling for the fifth consecutive year in 2008, MENA regional defense spending as a percentage of GDP rose to 5.09% in 2009 from the previous year’s figure of 4.71%, according to the 2011 edition of the Military Balance, compiled by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
