Algeria’s 2012 Budget Maintains High Level Of Social Spending

Last May the Algerian government raised its social spending by some 25% with the aim of appeasing popular protests against economic hardships and political repression in Algeria, as the Arab Spring was gaining momentum in neighboring countries.
