A partnership of UK-based Petrofac and Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Petroleum has been awarded a contract worth around $187mn to develop the Bab Habshan-1 oil project, Petrofac said Tuesday. The onshore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract was awarded by Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) and has an anticipated duration of 20 months. Petrofac said the contract includes the provision of water injection clusters, oil production wells, water injection wells, associated electrical and instrumentation facilities, pipelines, overhead power transmission lines and modifications at remote degassing stations. "This project builds on the work that we are engaged in for ADCO on the large Asab development, and further deepens our relationship with an important customer," Subramanian Sarma, managing director of Petrofac's Onshore Engineering and Construction business, said in a statement. Petrofac said its venture with Mubadala had also been awarded a $500mn onshore EPC contract by ADCO for the expansion of compression facilities at the Bab field. It will undertake modifications to three of the existing compressor stations and install a new fourth facility. The project will be completed in a phased manner in approximately 30 months, Petrofac said.
