Iraq Oil Exports Hit Highest Level In Decades
Published on Wednesday, 03 Oct 12:04 pm
Iraq’s oil exports rose to 2.6mn b/d on average in September, the highest in more than three decades, compared to 2.565mn b/d in August, an Iraqi Oil Ministry spokesman said on Monday. Exports from Basra in the south were 2.18mn b/d in August, while shipments from northern Kirkuk were 420,000 b/d including around 10,000 b/d trucked to Jordan. Iraq’s September exports reached the highest level since 1979 when exports hit 3.244mn b/d. Crude oil exports from Kirkuk were boosted after the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) reached an agreement to unitize exports. KRG pledged to export 140,000 b/d in September before raising it to 200,000 b/d for the rest of the year. Iraq has passed the 3mn b/d production level for the first time in three decades (Reuters).
