Egypt has invited foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iran to a meeting in Cairo on 17 September to discuss the Syrian crisis. Egyptian Foreign Minister Muhammad Kamil 'Amr told reporters on 10 September that the meeting would prepare for higher-ranking talks. Egypt is seeking agreement on halting violence, ensuring Syria’s territorial unity, rejecting foreign military intervention and launching a political process to achieve democracy.
