Libya’s newly elected interim assembly has elected former opposition activist and moderate Islamist, Muhammad Magriefas its president, beating a liberal candidate in the vote. Mr Magrief will lead the assembly in the task of appointing a prime minister and running the country until a constitution is drafted next year.
