Sudan And South Sudan Reach “Understanding” Over Oil

South Sudan has agreed to pay Sudan around $9/B to transport crude oil through its Red Sea ports. South Sudan stopped oil production in January over the dispute and Sudan will receive $3bn as compensation for revenue lost in that period. However, the deal is subject to further talks on security and outstanding border disputes. The talks will resume towards the end of August with a summit between the presidents to follow to make the deal, the African Union told the BBC.
