Mursi Victory Seen As Emboldening Islamists

The victory of Muslim Brotherhood leader Muhammad Mursi in Egypt’s presidential elections is seen by analysts as emboldening fellow Islamists seeking political change in the Middle East and North Africa. Reuters quoted Cairo University political science professor Mustafa el-Sayed on 25 June as saying that this victory confirmed a trend started in Tunisia “that the political force most likely to come to power in most Arab states after the fall of their regimes is the Islamists.”
