Egypt Unilaterally Suspends Gas Exports To Israel
Published on Monday, 23 Apr 16:06 pm
The Egyptian Gas Company (EGAS) suspended its deal to export gas to Israel through the mediating company “Middle Eastern Company (EMG)”, a source in EGAS said. The deal was cancelled as EMG “was not fulfilling” its side of the deal. According to Muhammad Shu’aib , Chairman of EGAS, the decision was taken by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and EGAS , adding , “This is a trade agreement between EGPC and EGAS on one side and the EMG , which is an Egyptian company specialized in exporting gas on the other side. A trade agreement has conditions, duties and rights for each side. When one party does not fulfill its side of the deal, the agreement dictates what the other side is to do.”
