Obama Adopts “Centrist” Approach In Energy Presidential Campaign

US President Obama used his 3rd State of the Union address on 24 January to lay out the energy message he will use in his presidential campaign this year. He called for increased domestic drilling -  but elimination of tax provisions benefiting oil companies - and for expanded use of natural gas along with disclosure of chemicals used in hydrauling fracturing on public lands. President Obama also said the US needs an energy policy “that develops every sustainable source of American energy – in a strategy that is clearer, cheaper and full of new jobs.”
