Benchmark oil prices slid by a further 2.7% on 5 February, with WTI setting a daily trading volume record on Nymex as investors continued their move out of commodities and into the relative safe haven of a strengthening dollar. WTI crude settled at $71.19/B, Brent settled at $69.59/B, DME Oman settled at $71.12/B and ICE Dubai settled at $69.65/B. The OPEC Basket price for 5 February was $69.71/B, down $3.02/B on the day.
